Two double sculls of brothers are sure to direct their sibling rivalries down the course - the Brothers Coveny Ian and Kyle, and the twin Brothers Klingsporn, Greg and Geoff.
Wesleyan University will have two members of the Smith Family rowing in the Head of the Charles Regatta, senior Zandy and freshman Jordan. Their mom, Rena Koopman of Newton, MA will also be racing in a Boston Master's women's eight. Zandy learned to row at the Winsor School in Boston and Jordan learned to row at Noble & Greenough.
Three generations of Peterson family will row in the Head Of The Charles Regatta. Cornelius 'Pete' and son Charlie Peterson will row in the Masters Double for the Cambridge Boat Club. Granddaughter Altair Peterson will row in the Women's Youth 4 for Buckingham, Brown and Nobles.
This year in the returning women's Lightweight 8 Champions University of Wisconsin will have some competition of the maternal kind. Katie Sweet form the Wisconsin Lightweight 8 will be in the same race as her mother Patricia Blanchard, who will row for Cascade Rowing from Seattle.
Celeste Powell is the coxswain for the PrincetonUniversity women's boat in the women's championship race (Bow #2) and her father (Jerry Powell) is rowing in the Masters four event for River City Rowing Club (Bow #28). She was the coxswain last year for Princeton as well, when Jerry rowed for River City last year in the Masters eight race. The whole family is looking forward to both of their races this year.
